Fall 2007

Lone Star College–Willow Chase Center
9449 Grant Road
Houston, Texas 77070

Welcome from the Dean

Welcome to new and returning faculty who have taught with us previously.  If you have questions regarding procedures, you will find the appropriate Lone Star College–Tomball Adjunct or Full-time Faculty Handbook very useful.  They contain vital information relative to most administrative matters that you might encounter during the semester.   This letter provides information that is specific to Lone Star College–Willow Chase Center.  Some information has changed so PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.

-Dr. Robert Jones, Dean

  • Copying at Lone Star College–Willow Chase Center is to be done by individual faculty (copy codes can be obtained from Judy Bowser, Room 225, Carolyn O'Donnell Room 202 or Billy E. Smith, Weekend/Nighttime Coor., Room 102).  We also realize that there may be times when exceptions have to be made, and we are more than willing to work with you during those times.
  • Scantrons will no longer be available in the upstairs workroom.  During the hours of 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. please see Judith Bowser, Rm. 225 to checkout the scantrons that you will need.  During evening/weekend hours please see Billy Smith, Rm. 102 to make your request.
  • Office Services at Tomball is another option for your copying needs.  You may inter-office mail your work that needs to be done, you may send Microsoft Office files electronically as attachments to Tomball Office-Services@lonestar.edu or you may fax documents (see phone list in Handbook for number); however, expect at least a 72 hour turnaround.
  • A faculty workroom, (Room #124 downstairs and Room #226 upstairs) serves as the faculty office at Lone Star College–Willow Chase Center. There you will find the copier, computer workstations, telephones, and office supplies, also a scantron machine, and faculty mailboxes in the workroom upstairs. If you need to meet with a student please ask Carolyn O'Donnell, Judy Bowser or Billy E. Smith for a room.

PLEASE NOTE:  The upstairs and downstairs faculty workrooms will be for faculty use only.  (NO     STUDENTS     ALLOWED!)

  • Media Department. All of the classrooms are equipped with media carts which contain VCR, DVD's, computer access and overhead projectors. If you encounter any problem with the equipment, please contact one of the IT staff, ext. 5329.
  • Library & Assistance Center (Rm 116).  The Lone Star College–Willow Chase Center library has primarily electronic access to resource materials. We also have an area for tutoring in Room 103 downstairs.

  • A daily courier makes a one-way run from WC to Lone Star College–Tomball to District Office. Our maintenance staff also brings supplies from Tomball daily.  These runs should expedite the turn around time for faculty teaching at Lone Star College–Willow Chase Center.
  • Campus police officers are on duty at all times. For emergencies, notify the police officer on-duty (281-401-5321). The Director and your instructional coordinator also need to be notified. Front desk staff will be able to locate the officer for you with a radio if needed.
  • Vending machines with sodas & snacks are available at Lone Star College–Willow Chase Center.
  • Classes missed: There may be times when you will not be able to meet your class.  If this happens, please inform your respective instructional coordinator (phone numbers will be given to you when classes begin), so they might schedule a substitute for your class(es) as early a possible. If you call at the last minute, please call Judy Bowser, 281-401-5361 or the front counter, 281-401-5370.  Please make every effort to meet your class promptly and make full use of the instructional time scheduled.

  • Do not change your class time or your classroom without prior approval from the Dean of Lone Star College–Willow Chase Center.

  • Do not change the time of your final exam without first having talked to the Dean of Lone Star College–Willow Chase Center

  • Course Syllabi: Another matter of importance is uploading your syllabus to your division.  The website to do so is as follows: http://www.syllabus.nhmccd.cc/Lone Star College System_Syllabus/faculty.php. If step by step directions would be helpful, please see Judith Bowser, Rm. 225 for a handout on the directions.
  • At the end of the semester when your students have taken finals, after inputting the grades in StarGazer, print TWO COPIES and sign them, then give these with the final exams and a key to the final, along with your gradebook inserts or spreadsheets listing all student grades to Judith Bowser in Rm. 225.  If you have questions please let us know.  We will be glad to assist you in anyway that we can.
