College Placement
To qualify for Exceptional Admission students must meet both the TSI/SSI* requirement and the college-level placement requirements.
TSI/SSI Requirement
- Students must demonstrate College readiness
- Students are required to meet college-level placement scores (writing, reading, mathematics) required for the individual courses.
- THEA or alternative assessment exams COMPASS, ASSET, TAKS, THEA, SAT, ACT.
Students can meet the SSI requirement by being exempted from the THEA test based on ACT, SAT, or exit TAKS scores or by achieving TSI complete scores on the THEA or one of the approved alternative assessment tests (i.e. ASSET, COMPASS, MAPS or ACCUPLACER).
For dual credit/exceptional admissions students, the COMPASS and ASSET test fee is waived.
College-Level Minimum Scores
In addition to passing the THEA or alternative test...
- Students are required to meet college-level placement scores (writing, reading, mathematics) for the individual courses.
- Student must pass both the reading and writing portions of the test for all college-level courses**.
- Students are required to meet math pre-requisite skills in specific courses including science-based math courses (ex. physics and chemistry).
- Students are required to pass the math portion to enroll in math courses.
